How Technology Will Impact the Future of Work.

October 30, 2023

There is a major change currently going on in the world of work. This change is causing significant panic, anxiety, and uncertainty for many people and creating groundbreaking challenges as well as opportunities. In light of the current social climate companies will need to ask major questions, how and where they want to fit in, in this current reality. More rigid companies might suffer going forward, successful companies will be determined by their flexibility and adaptability. If we want to do things only the way it has been done before, then we might experience great struggle.

Technology by nature is forward-looking and designing technology requires us to imagine a new user experience, for which we are developing a mechanism to do something different than today.

To do so, we need to develop our creative thinking and imagination, for our current thinking will not help us solve the problems with the same thinking we used when we created them, as Einstein famously quoted.

Ways Technology Will Impact the Future of Work.

WORK CULTURE

As Steve Jobs famously said, innovation distinguishes between a leader and a follower. Innovative company culture will be a major highlight in the future with companies having all their meetings online, daily standups on zoom, Google Meet, and several others. Companies have to form a new working culture. A few years ago, we were only debating about these things, but now the reality is visible for us. As we think about the future of work, companies are going have to pay closer attention to culture drivers such as;

  • Respect and fairness.
  • Trust and integrity.
  • Teamwork.
  • Diversity and inclusion

During the pandemic, many leaders spoke more often and openly with staff than they ever had before. That transparency created an employee experience that got people through a crisis and provided the basis for the kind of regular communication linked to strong employee engagement.

REMOTE WORK

A major lesson from the pandemic has been that organizations have finally realized that the physical presence of employees working 100% of their time in the office has no direct link to their productivity. But, whether companies will allow employees to work from home, require them to work in the office, or some combination of the two is a subject of major debate.

Companies will need to optimize the performance and well-being of their employees. Employees, whether at home or in-person, employees will want to learn new skills, advance in their career. New practices such as mindfulness and resilience training to help cope with the abrupt change in work-life balance. Employers must make a deliberate effort to ensure that their employees get the right training and development.

In conclusion, companies in these contemporary and changing times, will need to incorporate training for employees to keep retain. There is always going to be a need for constant training in this fast-paced technology environment. Companies will have to look for innovative ways to build a positive culture. The debate over work from home or in office will continue for years to come. The world truly has become a global village, where countries and cities are now competing for the best talents.
